How To Search the Florida Department of Health for Divorce Records Throughout the State

A Volusia County divorce certificate can be obtained through the Florida Department of Health. The Florida Department of Health Vital Statistics Office maintains dissolutions of marriage certificates from June 6, 1927, to the present day.

Dissolution of marriage certificates are essentially documents that contain information taken from divorce judgments. It offers proof that a dissolution of marriage was granted. As mentioned previously, the divorce decree can only be obtained from the clerk of circuit court where the divorce was finalized.

Interested parties seeking to obtain a divorce record must complete an Application for Florida Dissolution of Marriage Certificate.⁵ Requesters must provide sufficient details about the divorce so the Vital Statistics Office can locate the record. If the divorce occurred before 1970 the husband’s name must be included in the application.
