How To Find Volusia County Mugshots via Cities

Arrest records are one of the most common records that show mugshots, aside from inmate rosters. Recent arrests are often recorded by the local police departments; however, most cities in Volusia County don’t have records online that also show mugshots.

The only city that has an online database for mugshots is the City of DeLand. Interested parties can view them under the ‘Most Wanted’ and ‘Warrants’ page of the DeLand Police Department.8

Both pages display the wanted person’s photos along with their name, charge, and warrant description. Further information includes the individual’s age, race, gender, weight, height, hair and eye colors, warrant issuance date, warrant and incident types, status, docket number, and the name and position of the issuing authority.

There is also a button that appears at the bottom of the page that allows citizens to submit a tip about the selected wanted person.

Furthermore, most cities link to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Sex Offenders & Predator Search (SOPS), which also shows offender mugshots.10

Searchers can look up sex offenders and predators by name or address. Results display a table that lists the offenders’ mugshots, names, statuses, addresses, and sources of information.

In addition, citizens can inquire about offender photos and information by visiting or contacting the local police departments. Information about the five departments with the largest jurisdiction is listed in the overview of obtaining public records in Volusia County; this resource also offers insight into accessing other record types – such as court cases, marriages, divorces, warrants, and more – within the county.

Details about other police departments can also be found by searching “[name of city/town] Florida police department” or other similar combinations online.

For a statewide search, the following section provides information about the relevant state agencies in Florida.

Search Prison Mugshots in Florida: State & Federal

Mugshots are also taken for state prisoners, but these may not appear through county-level resources even if they lived in the area. Thankfully, a statewide search for prison mugshots is possible with the Florida Department of Corrections’ offender search and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Sex Offenders & Predator Search (SOPS).11, 10

Both search options only require at least a last name to start a search.

On the other hand, an inmate locator is also offered by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). While this database doesn’t display mugshots, it provides vital information about federal offenders. Searches require at least a name or BOP number.

Under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Florida Public Records Law, citizens have the right to access mugshots and the other aforementioned public records in Volusia County.1, 2 However, this is not a pass to intimidate or harass individuals using these records.

The appropriate use of public records, especially in the workplace, are governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

To make your Volusia County mugshot search more effective, consider using the local and state agencies and laws mentioned.
